Dubai -Job title: Contracts Advisor Location: Dubai -, United Arab Emirates Reporting to: Head of Contracts 1. Purpose of the role To in conjunction with Business Development and Commercial secure drilling contracts for the company. 2. Responsibilities Securing of new Drilling Contracts (90% of the role) Review and qualification of operator’s drilling contract as part of tenders in line with Seadrill’s key contracting principles and the specific considerations of the particular opportunity. This is a key part of this role: Review and qualification of prospective drilling contracts will be performed in conjunction with input from the Region’s Legal on liabilities & indemnities and general legal matters, the insurance specialists in London, Tax Advisor and Finance, the Head of Contracts, Head of Commercial and the Director of Marketing. Part of this task involves preparing the qualifications table. The qualifications table serves as the basis of the later contract negotiations and the Contracts Advisor is accountable for producing a high quality document. Whenever tenders progress to contract negotiation, the Contracts Advisor will be part of the negotiations team that corresponds, meets, negotiates and interfaces with the client. Ability and willingness to travel for contract negotiations is an important part of this role. The Dubai - office is responsible for the geographic area of Asia, India, Middle East, Africa, Mediterranean and North Sea. Expected travel frequency is once or twice a month for typically 2-3 days at a time. The Contracts Advisor will be responsible for preparing internal approval documents in support of management and Board approvals in respect of secured drilling contracts. Management of secured Drilling Contracts throughout a contracts’ life cycle (10% of the role) The Contracts Advisor is responsible for: Contracts administration (filing etc.) Contractual Support in the start-up of new drilling contract On-going support to Operations through a drilling contract Contracts closure 3. Authority and Dimension Operate within Seadrill's Key principles for business conduct. 4. Person Specification Knowledge Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Law Minimum of 3 years of relevant prior experience although significantly more years of experience are preferred Preferably prior experience of dealing with drilling contracts or other offshore & marine contracts / oilfield services contracts Skills Excellent English skills both written (contractual wording) and oral; Structured and systematic, good attention to detail Customer-facing skills, good communication skills Strong negotiation skills; A commercial attitude; Potential to progress to further responsibility & seniority
