Must follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by legendary trainers, Departmental trainers and Fitness & Wellness Manager To ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Spa. Assist in the operations of all spa departments as required: Relaxation Area Fitness Centre Spa Suites Report dysfunctional equipment to Fitness & Wellness Manager To maintain inventory of supplies for the operations of the spa To attend daily line-ups, weekly and monthly spa meetings. To maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as laid down by the Fitness & Wellness Manager Must attend all training courses as deemed necessary, and must adhere to training as set down by the Fitness & Wellness Manager Must have the ability to courteously interact and answer all spa and hotel related questions with guests. Assist in all areas of the spa as and when necessary. To be adaptable and accountable for all actions. Will perform as a professional, with a friendly business attitude and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position or assigned by the Fitness & Wellness Manager. To assist in the smooth flow of the guest’s journey throughout the day. Assist with cleaning of pool area outside of operating hours. To receive training to ensure that all-relevant Health and Hygiene standards are implemented and monitored within the spa. Courtesy to guests and other members of staff at all times. To attend to guests in both the waiting areas and fitness centre ensuring that they are comfortable as well as offering refreshments. Will perform as a professional, with a friendly business attitude and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position or assigned by the Fitness & Wellness Manager. Will greet each guest with a smile and acknowledge guest even in passing. Will proactively offer assistance to all spa guests when necessary. Conduct fitness assessments and personal training To supervise and instruct the safe use of the equipment in the Fitness area To conduct Personal Training sessions based upon systematic and scientific counselling and conditioning principles to ensure safety and training efficiency in exercise prescription Ensure that training goals are realistic and attainable for guests to achieve their objectives To be fully aware of any contraindications that the guest may have before commencement of any exercise program Personal Program cards to be filled out and filed for each guest in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures) To produce a monthly attendance reports of all complimentary and private programs To ensure all guests sign participation waiver before commencing any complimentary or private wellness programs To conduct in villa/suite private wellness program in up-most professional manner and to adhere and follow private wellness menu and in-house training guidelines To conduct complimentary wellness programs in up-most professional manner and to adhere and follow complimentary wellness menu and in-house guidelines To conduct children’s physical activities where necessary To follow Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai - SOPs concerning fitness centre opening and closing To follow Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai - SOPs in regard to fitness centre etiquette and handling of all health and fitness equipment To provide sound, scientifically correct feedback to guests should they be performing un-safe exercises – guest must be approached and assisted with correct exercise execution To liaise with health and fitness instructors to produce, prepare and execute complimentary and private wellness programs To start and finish all appointments on time To follow administration SOPs for all health and fitness activity bookings and private wellness bookings To review bookings for the day and the following day and to ensure that everything is booked correctly and efficiently To supervise all instructors of their daily schedule. Should there be any conflict with daily schedule you must report to Fitness & Wellness Manager as soon as possible To meet daily with fitness instructors in absence of Fitness & Wellness Manager for daily briefing Professional appearance and conduct on the floor must be maintained at all times All health and fitness instructors are to be approachable and friendly at all times Provide professional advice, assistance and education to all guests in the fitness centre by walking the floor focusing on exercise execution, exercise safety and constant member contact To follow SOPs in regard to welcoming guests to the fitness centre – this will include liability signing; self introduction; the hand out of sweat towels; water bottles etc Empty bins/pick up rubbish when necessary Promote and communicate Health and Fitness activities and Complimentary/Private Wellness programs to guests Private phone calls/reading magazines/surfing the net are NOT allowed in the Fitness Centre To CONSTANTLY monitor those guests within the Fitness Centre and to ANTICIPATE their needs i.e. another water bottle Praise, reward and encourage guests whilst they are working out To conduct fitness evaluations as per –your property name- guidelines and in-house training specifications All guests to complete Fitness Evaluation waiver before commencing To offer sound and professional advice within the realms of personal knowledge when completing Fitness Evaluation Adhere to prescribed fitness evaluation and use professional judgment as to whether certain modules of the evaluation are best left out ParQ, HIGH ‘medical’ risk members must not be allowed to proceed with Fitness Evaluation without previous medical clearance Report any equipment malfunctions or damage immediately to engineering department and or SEARA International - record in Maintenance folder allocated in Fitness Centre office Maintain all equipment in good order. Complete all cleaning and maintenance checks thoroughly and diligently according to daily SOPs Put away all equipment left unattended by guests Communicate with Fitness & Wellness Manager in the development of skills Maintain flexibility in the times available for shifts. Have total commitment to and take full responsibility for all shifts roistered. To obtain Fitness & Wellness Manager’s approval for any changes to roistered shifts. To assist Fitness & Wellness Manager in promoting all health and fitness activities and complimentary/private wellness programs to help overall health, fitness and wellness financial performance To assist in the development of Marketing ideas for health, fitness and wellness programs and retreats To liaise with Human Resources to run monthly staff fitness and wellness programs Present ideas for new guest activities and promotions Present ideas and articles for Fitness centre notice boards and handouts To be fully part of the Spa operations team Skills & Qualifications High School qualification or equivalent. Degree or Higher National Diploma in the field of Fitness/Sports/Personal Training is preferred. Valid registration with REP’s UAE and hold a Category ‘A’ fitness license. Specialisation in a fitness discipline is preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial fitness environment, or professional sports coaching facility with exposure to leadership responsibilities/duties. Previous experience in Fitness & Wellness operations within a 5-star hotel is advantageous. Advanced knowledge of fitness training principles and ability to apply within a gym-based environment Ability to gain the required annual CPD’s, to maintain REP’s certification and keep up-to-date with latest fitness trends/knowledge. Ability to deliver regular product knowledge/team training to maintain highest standards. Effectively develop/manage staff rota to ensure operational hours are covered and member/guest service is unaffected. Strong knowledge on gym safety standards and required maintenance procedures. Strong ability to develop and lead Group Exercise Classes and Fitness Events. Working understanding of free weight/pin-loaded/functional gym equipment and ability to perceive any faults/damage that could compromise user safety. Ability to work long hours with a strong focus on operational excellence. Ability to understand the flow of service and handle multiple tasks effectively is preferred. Basic computer skills including MS Office/MS Excel/Email management is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop rapport with guests/members to deliver superior customer service.
