UAEContractSUPERINTENDENT Location: Dubai - Start: ASAP Contract : permanent Job dimension The SUPERINTENDENT of LD Ports & Logistics Middle East is assisting the TECHNICAL MANAGER to ensure that the vessels are technically and operationally fit for operation. The SUPERINTENDENT is the permanent and privileged link between the vessel and the shore organization. The SUPERINTENDENT represents LDPL Middle East’s management when he/she is onboard the vessels or during technical stops. The SUPERINTENDENT assures that his/her ships are operated and maintained in an efficient, safe, cost-conscious manner and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. The SUPERINTENDENT ensures that the members of his/her team and the crew members are following LDPL Middle East processes and standards. The SUPERINTENDENT’s main roles are as follows: Regulatory compliance: Is the focal point of contact for authorities Ensures the overall compliance with Class, Statutory and Insurance requirements. Coordinates Class and Statutory visits for his/her vessels. Technical activities: Provides technical support to his/her vessels Ensures that the maintenance is permanently carried out as per plan, and proposes, implements changes to maintenance plan when relevant Ensures supply for his/her vessels, including but not limited to spare parts, consumables, LO, Fuel, food, IT and water supplies. Monitors and supervises the subcontracted purchasing activities for the his/her vessels within financial authority and in accordance with budgets: Supports the PURCHASER on technical matters Checks, amends as necessary and pre-approves the Purchase Orders. Contributes to the selection of the best suppliers Validates logistics solutions for his/her vessels Follows the status of the Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, deliveries, claims. Checks and pre-approves Invoices Inspects his/her vessels at least 3 times a year and issues a ship’s visit report Prepares the technical stops activities: Defines repairs specifications in coordination with the Masters and Chief Engineers Prepares technical stops’ budgets and proposes adequate list of yards. Organizes specifications review sessions with other SUPERINTENDENTS and the TECHNICAL MANAGER Issues tender package, manages Request For Quotation / Call For Tender and compiles shipyard proposals. Participates to the yard selection with TECHNICAL MANAGER. Acts as LDPL Middle East representative onsite during the whole duration of the technical stops and supervises the works within his perimeter. Discuss final invoice with yard. Consolidates and reports during the whole course of the project the actual costs and deviations Issues daily and final technical stop reports Assess the performance of the Contractors during the Technical Stops and/or for maintenance activities Prepares, consolidates and follows all technical and operational related insurance claims Prepares proposals for technical & operational budgets within defined deadlines for his/her vessels and presents them to the TECHNICAL MANAGER Reviews the monthly budget follow-up report issued by finance department and ensures that there is no deviation. Operational activities: Works closely with OPERATION/PERFORMANCE MANAGER to insure smooth operation of vessels. Manages answers to client’s requests including but not limited to technical issue reports, spare parts level, maintenance planning. Crewing activities: Ensures that vessels are manned in accordance with requirements Contributes to CHIEF ENGINEERS and MASTERS appraisal with TECHNICAL MANAGER, OPERATION/PERFORMANCE MANAGER and SITE MANAGER on annual basis Liaises closely with the Manning agency and the OPERATION/PERFORMANCE MANAGER to assess the crew, and gives input on the level of competence and needs for training Communication: Alerts the TECHNICAL MANAGER of any problems / incidents with his/her vessels Represents and promotes the achievements of LDPL Middle East as relevant Contributes to Monthly reports for his/her vessels Reports to the TECHNICAL MANAGER and the OPERATION/PERFORMANCE MANAGER any issues he/she may be aware of in relation to crew, clients or contractors. Reports to the TECHNICAL MANAGER and the OPERATION/PERFORMANCE MANAGER all relevant information which can be collected while in relation with authorities, suppliers or contractors (best practices, standards, future rules, technology, etc…) Ensures a permanent collaboration with the QHSE department Any other activity as necessary for the good performance of LDPL Middle East. The SUPERINTENDENT will be involved in an on-call system for emergencies management. Required profile Education and experience: Chief Engineer License and/or Marine Engineering Education at Bachelor level or higher Minimum five (5) years’ experience from similar position Skills: Technical and professional skills are essential but not enough, Management and leadership skills with multi-cultural teams Advanced computer skills on MS Office Good knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems Good understanding in the ISO 9001, OHSAS and ISM requirements. Good knowledge of flag, international and GCC maritime regulations Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders A special attention will also be given to flexibility, multi-skilling and soft skills such as: Self-motivation, autonomy Problem solving Decisiveness Work-ethic
