VP BAGGAGE & OPERATIONS SERVICES (EKAS) - The Emirates Group-Dubai
Dubai -JOB PURPOSE Develop and lead a high performance Baggage and Operations Services team at the airline hub, delivering consistently high standards of service against rising customer expectations, whilst improving revenues, operational efficiency, safety/security and keeping within financial cost budgets. Prepare long-term service plans and provide inputs into Dubai - airport facilities development. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES LINKED TO OBJECTIVE AREAS 1. Manage the long-term customer service strategy for the Baggage, Ramp and Arrivals product at the hub. Ensure key metrics are established and measures – including safe on-time performance, optimal payload, baggage connectivity, mishandled baggage, baggage delivery standards into the Arrivals Hall and network wide recovery of mishandled and lost baggage. 2. Manage process of providing inputs into strategic airside operational solutions and infrastructure, specifically with regard to baggage handling facilities and aircraft parking stands, so as to accommodate Emirates growing fleet 3. Partner with dnata and all major stakeholders in order to plan and execute the most efficient baggage transfer process thus ensuring minimal misconnected baggage. Moreover ensure direct DXB baggage performance is exemplary and the hub aims for and achieves zero joining bag losses 4. Through leadership and best practice manage the evaluation of new ULD products for both baggage and cargo requirements, budgeting for new units, maintenance/repairs for all ULDs in stock through service provider dnata and network wide stock control with the aim of proactively making units available across the network as per anticipated baggage and cargo uplift opportunities. 5. Define and publish business goals and operational KPIs, being responsible for all end results in that regard. Collaborate with CASA, Group Safety and other EKAS stakeholders, initiating a focussed service audit programme, taking necessary corrective action in cases of deviation from standard. 6. Develop and implement ground operations engagement standards and service level agreements with key stakeholders in order to deliver optimum standards of service delivery to all Emirates aircraft. Provide effective solutions to complex problems such as aircraft parking stand allocation, stand planning and aircraft towing requirements, due to remote parking, whilst constantly evaluating changing operational requirements such as disruptions and aircraft changes. Maintains measurement systems to track service provider compliance and takes prompt follow-up action to reverse adverse trends or rectify service delivery failures. 7. Collaborating with EKAS Business Support, identify opportunities to adopt technology across baggage and other below wing processes at the hub, with the aim of simplifying the customer journey and improving the experience. Ensure that EKAS is in the forefront of industry leading baggage and operational technologies thus streamlining operational processes and manpower 8. Develop and maintain long time relationship with various internal and external stakeholders as required to achieve service targets and implement service improvements. Promote a proactive management culture in order to foresee future threats and build on opportunities keeping in mind the fast paced growth of the airline. Lead operational transformation and be a key change leader in all areas including Lost Baggage, Ramp Operations, and Dispatch Operations. Directly manage cross functional change programmes and ensure projects are steered and delivered on-time 9. Manage existing baggage revenue streams at the hub, ensuring targets are achieved and timely corrective action taken where necessary. Pursue additional revenue generating opportunities, striving to convert EK Baggage Services into a profit making business unit. 10. Responsible for all aspects of staff management – to include staff performance, capability, training, disciplinaries, appraisal and development. People costs must be in line with budget and best practise. Ensure section performance measures and indicators are set and constantly reviewed in order to capitalise on opportunities and initiate corrective action, process and productivity improvements were deemed necessary Qualifications & Experience Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) 12 years in Airport Operations, with minimum 5 years managerial experience in below wing operations Knowledge/skills: Experience in airline baggage handling and baggage tracing, ground dispatch, aircraft loading and load control/weight and balance. Must have passed formal training in above areas. Previous experience in ULD management. Knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulatory requirements pertaining to ground operations at an airport, with working experience in implementation of safety and security regulations including carriers’ conditions of carriage.
