UAEContract, PermanentJob SummaryTHIS ROLE IS BASED IN RIYADH, KSA.We are looking for a Big Data Lead Engineer to lead the design and development of big data infrastructure and platforms. The Lead will work collaboratively with other functions to group the efforts of the teams towards the achievement of Etidal’s campaigns, projects, and programs.ResponsibilitiesStrategicContribute to the development of the directorate’s strategic plan.Continuously monitor the performance of team members to ensure performance deviations are identified in a timely manner, and actions are implemented to meet performance targets.OperationalCollaborate with data analytics and multimedia forensics leads to understand their requirements.Collaborate with data science and CE digital solutions leads to ensure the proper translation of ideas into prototypes and proof of concepts.Develop the big data plans, ensure its alignment with the directorate’s strategy, and manage its implementation.Supervise the analysis and evaluation of applicable emerging big data technologies, and provide technical expertise in adopting open source technologies related to big data.Provide strong technical expertise (performance, application design, stack upgrades) to lead platform engineering.Manage the conceptualization and the architecture of data platforms infrastructure.Ensure the completion of activities on time, within budget and with quality.Where applicable, work hand in hand with all relevant stakeholders to understand execute counter extremism and tolerance interventions scope and objectives and execute accordingly.Keep up to date with latest trends and technologies in the big data field, and provide technical recommendation on big-data stack like Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Sqoop. Etc to drive operational excellence.Policies, Procedures and Systems Provide input to support the development of directorate systems, policies, processes, and procedures.Ensure team members’ compliance and adherence with all policies, processes, standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.Ensure team members’ compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection).ReportingReport to the Director on the progress of activities against the operational plans, opportunities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to make an informed decision.Propose recommendations/alternatives basis analysis to senior-level management and provide direction on areas needing additional research or improvement.People SupervisionWork hand in hand with the direct reports to develop their personal development plans.Conduct and review performance appraisals for direct reports to identify areas of development and areas of strength.Identify the workforce, recruitment, training and developing needs to ensure the availability and readiness of competent, qualified and highly motivated staff.Contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of Etidal.Help in building a learning organization that will continue to grow, flourish and enhance the skills and abilities of employees.Create an environment that facilitates healthy relationships among all team members.Job Type / CategoryThis is a full-time role based in Riyadh, KSA.Required Education, Skills and QualificationsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any other relevant field. Master’s degree in any relevant field is a plusMinimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, 2 of which years in a managerial role.Experience and KnowledgeExtensive software development experience with highly-scalable, distributed, and/or real-time environmentsPrevious Big Data experience using Hadoop/No SQL to solve large-scale problems.Strong understanding of distributed systems and strong experience in using open source framework to build applicationsDemonstrated ability of design, implementation and delivery of software projects.Experience in Java, C#, Python and other languages and frameworks for internet-based information system building.Big Data Analytics (Apache Hadoop, Pig, Hive, HBase, Apache Mahout, Spark, ZooKeeper, Oozie).Java,J2EE, SOAP, RESTful, Python, C++, C, C#.NET, SQL, JavaScript, XML/XSL, UML, TDD, SCRUM, JMS, LDAP.Knowledge of, or interest in, Arabic Natural Language Processing, Arabic Language Text Mining and Opinion Mining concepts and techniques.Strong knowledge of the Big Data market and technology available.Understanding of data flows, data architecture, ETL and processing of structured and unstructured dataJob Types: Full-time, Contract, PermanentExperience:Management: 2 years (Required)Big Data Engineer: 7 years (Required)Language:English & Arabic (Required)
