This individual will act as an internal consultant to the Firm, providing advice on any issues impacting on the quality of legal services delivered to clients and the overall compliance and regulatory environment. Duties and responsibilities are as follows: Day to day management of conflicts team, Head of KYC and Compliance lawyer Principal contact in the firm for all Compliance matters – quality, KYC, conflicts and engagement terms Dealing with review of conflicts and KYC processes Establishes and maintains a clear conflicts policy and consistent application thereof. Responsibility for determination of sensitive or complex conflict issues or referring to conflicts committee Guiding conflicts committee on determination Reviewing engagement letters/terms of business Supporting firm-wide initiatives (e.g. secretarial review, CRM) to ensure high standards and compliance Visiting all regional offices to review and deliver compliance training Initiating, drafting and updating the firm’s compliance policies Monitor professional, legal and best practice developments particularly those necessitating changes to the quality of legal services delivered to clients. Plan and implement projects designed to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the legal service provided by the Firm on a departmental, office and firm-wide basis Develop, draft, maintain and communicate guidance notes, policies, procedures and precedents Work with senior stakeholders (e.g. Partners, Heads of Department, Heads of Office) to analyse the causes of any client complaints, claims and compliance breaches and assist with remedial actions where appropriate Assist Partners, Heads of Department and Heads of Office with client file audits and working practice reviews Maintain a client feedback programme.
