This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a new service in the region. The role will mainly focus on the assessment and treatment of criminal behavior. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll work not only with mentally disordered offenders, but with other professionals involved in the judicial and penal systems. The development of a forensic in-patient service is currently underway and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic expanding team. The work will involve,Psychological assessments including structured risk / personality assessmentsPsychological therapy with individualsPsychological therapy with groupsConsultation to teamsProvision of training and supervisionService evaluation and clinical research, including dissemination of outcomes via conference presentations and publicationsdesign and deliver trainingExperienceA Doctorate Level Qualification (or equivalent) in Clinical / Forensic Psychology along with a recognized license to practice in Dubai - is essential.Experience of working with a variety of adult client groups, ideally within mental healthExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health conditions, of varying severity and complexityYou will have an interest in working with people with a range of complex and co-occurring mental health needs, and have a positive approach to working with people presenting with a range of difficulties including: psychosis, emotionally unstable personality traits; deliberate self-harm; physical and verbal aggression; history of sexual offending; drug and alcohol problems.Knowledge of psychological assessment and formulation in healthcare, as well as planning and delivering psychological interventionsExperience of various psychological therapies/models and risk assessmentsTraining and supervision experience is desirableThe ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary teamYour profileThe successful applicant will have skills in complex formulation and intervention planning, engaging people in their treatment, delivering evidence-based group and individual psychological therapies and working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to communicate complex and sensitive information in an accessible and respectful way, have competencies in leadership and training, and be driven by patient outcomes. You will be cultural sensitive and understand the needs of patients within the United Arab Emirates.The position demands a reflective psychologist able to work creatively within the ethics, governance and recommendations of evidence-based models to develop and deliver innovative and person-centered interventions.
