Dubai -Senior Attorney - (1909884) Job Overview: McDermott is seeking a mid-level attorney with oil and gas experience to join the Middle East North Africa area (“MENA”) legal and compliance team. The Legal and Compliance Counsel will support MENA operations, projects and proposals from a legal and compliance perspective and will take an active role in the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background with between three and ten years’ legal experience whether in-house or with a law firm. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: The Legal and Compliance Counsel will deal with a variety of legal matters and will provide overall in-house legal support for the MENA area, with particular emphasis on the following: Advising on legal and contractual risk in multiple jurisdictions, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. Drafting and negotiating contracts for Onshore and Offshore projects with customers Assisting with preparation and negotiation of supply chain contracts. Assisting with claims and change order preparation and prosecution. Assisting with the development and negotiation of joint venture and consortium agreements. Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Developing and delivering training for employees on contracts and compliance topics. Working with the MENA Compliance team in conducting investigations into ethics and compliance matters. Working with the Insurance team in overall management of claims and insurance portfolio. Basic Qualifications: Law degree and admission to the bar in the relevant common law or GCC / regional jurisdiction 3-10 years of relevant experience Experience of construction and engineering projects in the oil and gas, energy, or maritime industries Self-motivated, excellent organizational and communication skills and strong academic background Able to work with and communicate effectively with non-lawyers Proficient in spoken and written English language Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Arabic language skills, written and spoken, would be an advantage. Experience with one or more GCC jurisdictions Preferred candidate is already present in the UAE.
