Job Description Description : Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a robust and effective compliance framework, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position ensures that senior management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory bodies, that group policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the Bank’s standards of conduct. Main responsibilities : Compliance Establish and continuously improve a consistent operating framework for the identification, management, monitoring and reporting of compliance risks and issues. Ensure that the operating framework meets internal (group policy & procedure) requirements. Develop an appropriate and effective training strategy. Develop an appropriate compliance communication strategy and facilitate implementation across the branch. Responsible for the review, challenge and roll-out of compliance standards. Develop valued and value-for-money advice and guidance to Business lines and management on all compliance issues. Report to relevant governance bodies in EMEA and Head office. Monitor that policies are applied consistently across BLs. Determine the impact of current and new legislation, rules and regulations on the branch, its current/new projects and current/new products. Assist line management to comply with applicable statutory, regulatory and supervisory requirements (notably those given by the DFSA) and to avoid sanctions related to conduct of business particularly in non- presence countries> Evaluate new laws and regulations and stay abreast of all legislative and regulatory developments that might have an impact on the branch. Monitor non- compliance and escalate any issues where non compliance is not adressed Fulfil regulatory role and responsabilities of the DFSA designated Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer Internal Control : Responsible for ensuring the annual assessment of the Non Compliance Risks as relevant to the the branch and implementing a control program to address the risks Reponsible for ensuring the implementation of corrective measures to redress any controls weaknesses identified. Anti-Fraud : Responsible for ensuring the implementation of global anti-fraud initiatives at a branch level Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience Prior experience (min. 8 years) as authorised compliance officer and MLRO for either a DFSA or FCA regulated business Corporate & IB (including M&A) related compliance advisory experience Financial Crime compliance advisory experience Experience or good understanding of internal control framework and implementation An understanding of the regulatory environment in the Middle East region including tolerated practices for business on a cross-border basis Experience working in a global environment Personable, with ability to lead, manage and inspire team, work well with other risk functions, and build relationships Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to deal with problems in a practical and common sense way, and make sound decisions (commercial approach and understanding of issues facing the firm) Ability to work with independence and autonomy Good attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality advice Qualifications in Audit, Law or Compliance Fluent English is essential, and whilst not essential, fluency in French or Arabic would be desirable Job Reference: NI12338
