Laboratory Technician performs the analysis and testing of routine and non-routine process control samples in the shift to ensure the production of a consistent quality product. Represents the policies, ethics, and culture of the company. Provides lab-related customer service, troubleshooting, problem solving, etc as directed by the Laboratory Chemist/ Sr. Engineer Quality Control./P.Q.C Section Team Leader. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Conducts routine Analysis of Raw Materials, water analysis,Intermediate Products, Final Product, Effluents etc. Assists Laboratory Chemist during analysis of special samples including new samples, or during ship loading, dust collections, or high pressure gas samples. Carry out non routine analysis like deposit, sludge, scales etc as under the guidance/ supervision of Laboratory Chemist. Assist Laboratory Chemist/ Sr. Engineer Quality Control during preparation of Reagent Preparation / standardisation and calibration of Instruments. Maintain a clear work place after the analysis. Proper storage and safe handling of all chemicals (as per MSDS), glassware and other laboratory items. Participate in achieving HSE objectives and compliance to Company Integrated Management System, Policies & Procedures. Identify activities and processes which are hazardous and undertake steps to mitigate that risk. Assist in ship loading activities by carrying out the special inspection of the ship upon arrival at the jetty including testing the quantity of the Ammonia vapour in the ammonia tanks on board, and recommending that loading operations commence. TYPICAL EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB: BSc. in Chemistry or equivalent Minimum 5 years of experience in managing quality Control department of large Nitrogenous Fertilizer complex (Ammonia / Urea & Utilities) or similar industries. Knowledge of various kind of Analysis carried out in large fertilizer plant.
