Financial Advisor - MESCAT - ENGIE Middle East-Dubai

Leveraging on its strong positions, the BU is developing its presence in renewable energies, in the gas value chain and in energy efficiency services. Reporting line The Financial Advisor will report to Senior Financial Advisor. Responsibilities Prepare and be responsible for financial models, financial analysis, valuation and risk analysis of new projects (with assistance / supervision of senior members of the team as appropriate). Assist with screening of projects / opportunities, work on indicative and final valuations, investment notes, investment committee approvals, preparation of financing plans, selection of funding sources / banks, the structuring and execution of project financings. Assist with or (when delegated) be responsible for non-project related AIFA activities (e.g. annual impairment tests, lookbacks, etc.). The role is specifically focused on MESCAT. • Monitor developments in financial modelling standards and tools. • Assist in monitoring and assessing competitors’ approaches to financing / funding projects. • Assist in monitoring relevant development in debt capital markets. • POLICY: work in compliance with investment guidelines and methodology. •OBJECTIVES (always under supervision of Senior Financial Advisor / Financial Advisor): - Responsible for preparation of financial models / financial analyses or reviewing and/or audit financial models / financial analyses of financial models prepared by other team members. - Responsible for the valuation of development projects, investment notes and committee approvals. - Responsible for analysis of financial (or financing related) risks and impact of proposed transactions on accounting. - Assist with the structuring and execution of financing plans for new projects. - Responsible for preparing or assisting with financing, accounting and tax related inputs in financial models (where required with the support of relevant expertise centers and/or external consultants) - Assist with the preparation of appropriate financing plans - Assist with the selection of banks / financing institutions and/or agencies and financial close of projects (from term sheet negotiation till first debt drawl) - Assist business development decision making process. - Assist with analysis on risk allocation, bankability issues, optimization & tax structuring. • KPI’s: prepare financial models (or other deliverables) within the timeframe agreed with Business Development team / senior members of the team (e.g. bid deadlines etc.). Preparation of investment notes and committee approvals for new projects. Assist in project financing and financial close (from term sheet negotiations till first debt disbursement) • PROCEDURES: Contributes to application of internal procedures for the AIFA – MESCAT team and responsible for adherence with Global AIFA procedures. • METHODS: Contributes to the monitoring and/or review of internal methods for the AIFA – MESCAT team and responsible for adherence with methods set or shared with Global AIFA. Contribute to the proposal of enhancements to financial modelling related / analytical methods. • SHARING: responsible for sharing information widely and openly with the team. •Cooperation with Finance function and/or senior members of the team in the preparation of medium term plan (“PAMT”) and budgets, including by providing macro-economic assumptions. Responsible for coordinating / managing junior members of the team assigned to work on PAMT / other planning activities. •Responsible for the preparation of financial models and financial analyses / risk assessments (e.g. sensitivity analyses etc.) •Assist with preparing request for proposals for banks / advisors / etc. (or delegate to Financial Advisor when appropriate) •Assist with negotiations with lenders / financial institutions. •When assisting with financing plans, responsible for preparation or review of relevant analysis (incl. impact on project economics, execution risks, etc.) •Assist with all non-project related activities of AIFA (e.g. annual impairment tests. lookbacks, etc.) •Support any group or external audit Qualifications Finance / Economics based degree or a professional qualification such as CFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA (or equivalent) or technical qualification/degree (e.g. engineering) Experience • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years spent working in AIFA / project finance and financial modeling. Proven experience and demonstrable competency with complex financial modelling and proficiency and knowledge of financial valuation methodology. Up-to-date proficiency in excel (incl. understanding and use of basic Macros) Experience in leading or supporting the financing efforts for a bid (and/or leading a project to financial close) preferable. Experience in planning and managing processes preferable. Specific Knowledge / skills • Strong and proven analytical skills, including proficient financial modelling. Commercial acumen with good understanding of accounting topics and tax structures. Planning ability and capacity to deliver on plans / work towards fixed deadlines. Able and willing to train, coach and support more junior team members, especially on modelling / technical aspects. Presence and interpersonal credibility advantageous. Ability to multitask and to work effectively under pressure. Strong communication skills (incl. adequate knowledge/use of PowerPoint®) Behavioral capabilities: problem solving, strong interpersonal skills. Languages: English required. Arabic or French is an advantage. Business Understanding • Good understanding of the power business and the IPP model. Good understanding of contractual structure of a typical contracted-output IPP. Good understanding of banking and funding processes / issues. Location/travel • Dubai - (UAE) / frequent travel within MESCAT. The Hay Level for this position is 13/14 depending in experience and seniority; and will be offered on a local contract.
