Preferable Ship building experience Preferable Experience of Crew Boats, AHT, PSV, DP1, DP2 Vessels. Preferable Familiar with Risk Assessment and training of same. Preferable Salary: 25000 Manage and supervise all technical aspects of vessels within the designated fleet. Assist with other vessels as and when required. Health & Safety Assist company management in maintaining safe working practices in compliance with the ISM code and Vessel Safety Management System onboard all vessels Act as a Team Member of the Emergency Response Team if required. Ensure all firefighting and lifesaving equipment on board assigned vessels are maintained to the applicable standards. General Ensure that vessels are well maintained and operations are conducted in accordance with applicable national & international regulations including but not limited to ;Flag State, Port State, ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS convention, MARPOL Convention, MLC 2006, STCW 2010) Ensure all vessels are maintained to company standards and in compliance with relevant regulations Ensure assigned vessels are prepared for class and statutory surveys and ensure same are planned and carried out in a timely manner. Ensure assigned vessels maintain class, through positive proactive management, including the close out of NCR’s or class conditions in a timely manner. Oversee the process of corrective action with respect to all known technical non-conformities on-board assigned vessels. Co-ordinate with the Purchasing department to ensure prompt delivery of requested materials and clarify any technical details that when required. Check and approve vessel engine department material requisitions. Select suppliers, assist with price negotiate and coordinate delivery of parts and stores to vessels from the workshop, warehouse and supplier when required. Ensure that materials used in on assigned vessels meet required quality standards. Monitor assigned vessels consumable stores and track inventories on board each vessel Maintain minimum critical to safety spares on board, and insure inventory is in order. Monitor use of refrigerant and chemicals onboard assigned vessels, with a view to reducing consumption Ensure regular analysis of fuel oil, lube oil, and potable water is carried out. Identify critical spares required for assigned vessels and ensure a minimum stock of critical spares is maintained onboard and in the workshop. Controls and organize on-board repairs carried out by shore based personnel and selecting suppliers for same Inspect vessels regularly, prepare inspection reports & submit these reports to the Operations Manager and Technical Manager. Implement required corrective actions, actions and close out deficiencies Review DRR, daily and monthly reports received from assigned vessels, and take necessary action(s) to rectify any deficiency reported by the vessel or discovered when analyzing these reports. Liaise with the certifying authorities regarding equipment failures, repairs and/or renewals. Write up and follow up on warranty and insurance claims in conjunction with the relevant departments within the company Monitor vessel performance trends including speed, fuel and lubricating oil consumptions, and implement timely remedial actions where these are outside agreed or expected parameters. Prepare machinery and equipment operating procedures for assigned vessels. Meet clients and represent the company at meetings with same when requested. Dry docks/Overhaul/Major Repairs Prepare spare part requisitions for dry-docking and major overhauls in advance to ensure the availability and timely supply of parts Scheduling and shore side preparation for dry-docks and major repairs/refit specifications, including but not limited to; sending enquiries to yards, price negotiations, preparation of yard and supplier comparisons and assistance with yard’s selection, attendance at the dry docking/vessel repairs or where required appointment of a port engineer to attend the vessel, verification of job completion reports and review of the final invoice for assigned vessels Supervisory/Training Assist in the familiarization, briefing and debriefing of shore-based personnel & vessel senior officers. Supervise junior staff as and when required, follow up on delegated tasks and responsibilities Conduct Senior Engineering Officer Performance Appraisals when requested to do so by the Technical Manager and or Crewing department Mentor junior staff, provide guidance and assistance as required to assist career development in conjunction with the Technical Manager. Assist in identifying their training needs of junior staff Provide training to ship officers on ABS NS5, PMS and monitor the status and effectiveness of planned maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment efficiency. Insurance/Budgeting Controls equipment/spares related costs through monitoring of vessel MSR’s, vessel and warehouse inventories. Assists in the follow up of marine insurance claims by collection of data & supporting documents. Assist with the preparation of budgets including costs for all surveys, modifications and projects. Be aware of and control the costs and expenses related to the technical management of assigned vessels to ensure the OPEX budget is not exceeded. Other duties Attend shipyard for commissioning and delivery of new build vessels when required In exceptional circumstances the Technical Superintendent may be required to join the vessel Any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager & Technical Manager Management Responsibilities Authority to approve orders for materials, spare parts, repairs and or other vessel technical requirements within the approved budget frame.
