Dubai -About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our 'Outstanding' Achievement Centre at Jumeirah Primary School from September 2020. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Outstanding Teacher to head up the school Inclusion Department. You will lead and manage the strategic development of the whole school's Inclusion practices including Special Educational Needs and or Disability (SEN/D), English Language Learning, Gifted &Talented identification and provision & management of Pastoral Care and Well Being; as well as oversight of the day-to-day operation of that policy and the Support Department. Key Responsibilities: To implement the School’s ‘Aims and Values’ and contribute to the ethos of the school (with regard to inclusion, wellbeing and safeguarding) Develop and implement Action Plans which is in line with the SIP as well as the whole school focusses for the year Ensure the progress of students (SEND, ELL, G&T and other vulnerable groups) is in line with, or above, expectations (collect, track and analyse data – explaining trends and outliners) Ensure that all students who have barriers to learning are appropriately assessed and supported to ensure progress through the curriculum Lead on the implementation and management of effective processes for monitoring, evaluating and developing of provision (policies) Support assessment and Admissions Department Effectively manage staff and resources to meet changing student needs Liaise closely and work with the school wellbeing team to ensure a co-ordinated approach to students’ needs Line manage designated staff Develop and enhance the teaching practice of staff in the Inclusion Department To liaise with external specialists To chair staff meetings on subject specific matters when required Organise and sometimes lead the training of staff to support those students who have SEND or additional needs (General and specific CPD) To write reports about students and their needs, as required To promote and foster constructive home/school partnerships; to attend Parents’ Meetings and liaise with parents on an informal basis where appropriate To feedback assessment results to parents To hold all IEP meetings with parents To maintain the SEND register in accordance with DSIB categorisation To distribute/integrate/file all reports from external specialists To maintain student logs detailing meetings To manage all seesaw communications To manage LSA monthly reports and case studies To maintain and develop a positive working relationship with all members of staff; to attend/deliver INSET and liaise and cooperate with colleagues on whole school matters To share responsibility with all colleagues for the students’ pastoral care and safety, including duties in accordance with prepared rotas To demonstrate a commitment to personal, professional development To show commitment to and cooperate in the process of Performance Management/Appraisal/QA To promote the School to existing and prospective parents and students To carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal The following list provide the Essential characteristics, skills, qualities and experience for the role: Degree from a reputable University with a relevant teaching qualification 2nd Degree/additional certificate related to SEN/D – possibly dyslexia SENCo qualification Knowledge of the implications of the Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs (2015) for teaching and learning and the Dubai - Inclusion Framework Knowledge and understanding of assessment for and of learning as well as diagnostic tests Knowledge and understanding of intervention strategies for a range of learning needs Detailed understanding of dyscalculia in terms of a structured cumulative curriculum A team player with sound interpersonal skills and sensitivity Sound knowledge and understanding of the development of literacy, numeracy and language acquisition Knowledge of educational practice in the UAE and implications for school of the KHDA initiative for fully Inclusive schools by 2020 Ability to maintain confidentiality appropriate to the setting Ability to use authority to positively enhance outcomes for students Ability to operate effectively when working under pressure Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with parents, students and colleagues Excellent organisational skills Ability to see the wider picture A very good level of competence in ICT High levels of energy and commitment Personally committed to continuing professional development An effective and successful teacher with firm discipline, high personal standards and high expectations of students Demonstrates discretion/loyalty An eagerness to participate fully in the life of a busy School Enthusiasm and a keen sense of humour Ability to show initiative Committed to safeguarding the physical, emotional and mental well-being of young people If you are interested in the position and feel you have the right qualifications and experience, then we would love to hear from you.
